From the Road
There was no support convoy chasing headlines.
Some days were strong. Others were survival.
Heat, rain, injury, loneliness, and doubt became constant companions. So did generosity, curiosity, kindness, and moments of unexpected grace.
Run China Run became bigger than the run itself.
About the Film
Run China Run is a feature documentary born from a 3,140km run from Beijing to Hong Kong, but this film is not about running.
It is about what happens when a person keeps moving forward through exhaustion, doubt, pain, and silence, and what that journey reveals about identity, resilience, mental health, and the meaning of ability.
Over nearly two months on the road, former professional jockey and endurance runner Jo Lodder runs China. No race clock. No finish-line fanfare. Just one man, one country, and the quiet truth that endurance strips us back to who we really are.
This documentary captures the raw, unfiltered reality of that journey, the breaking points, the human connections, the beauty of China and the moments where stopping would have been easier than continuing.

About the Runner
Jo Lodder is a former professional jockey whose career ended after breaking his back.
That injury forced a reckoning with identity, mental health, and the belief that movement can be a form of recovery.
Now an endurance runner, entrepreneur, and Director of Action Asia Foundation, Jo uses long-distance challenges as a platform to tell human stories that sit at the intersection of sport, adversity, and purpose.

The Filmmakers
Run China Run is brought to life by an experienced, international team of storytellers who understand how to capture truth under pressure.
Bey Logan brings decades of experience as a filmmaker, writer, and producer, with a deep understanding of Asian culture and human‑driven narratives. His work is rooted in authenticity and character, making him uniquely placed to tell this story.
Tom Kelly is a documentary filmmaker known for his ability to capture raw, unscripted moments in challenging environments. His focus is on intimacy and realism — allowing stories to unfold naturally rather than being forced.
William Ranieri adds a cinematic eye shaped by years of work across film, television, and branded content, balancing visual beauty with emotional restraint.
Mac Sainsbury‑Place brings a sharp editorial sensibility, helping shape the long road into a coherent, honest narrative that stays true to the experience.
Together, the team approach Run China Run not as a spectacle, but as a human story — told with care, credibility, and respect for the journey.

Why This Story Matters
The run was undertaken to raise awareness and funds for people with disabilities through Action Asia Foundation — but the film reaches further than charity.
It challenges how we view limitation, strength, and success.
Through encounters with everyday people and the disabled community, Run China Run asks a simple but uncomfortable question:
What are we capable of when we stop measuring ourselves against expectations — and start listening to what our bodies and minds are telling us?
